Guild News

The Guild welcomes Phyllis Dotterer as the new Vice President/Program
chair! She has some great plans for the Guild this coming year. She and
President Norine Shaw have been busy setting up the Guild calendar. Phyllis plans to bring more laughter and fellowship to the Guild meetings this year. She has exciting plans for the next couple of months and is already planning a Guild retreat. The speaker for the February 13 meeting will be Greg and Carol Shue, who will be sharing their own life experiences called “Miracles Happening on Your Health”. Their story is inspirational, but you’ll need to attend the Guild meeting to hear the rest of the story!

  Respite Night
The Guild is planning a wonderful community outreach program for Friday, March 19. On that evening they will join with Alpine Kiwanis to
host a Respite Night for parents of foster children in the East County.
Foster parents fulfill a great need in our modern society as they serve as temporary guardians and family for children in need. They may have a child for as little as a few weeks, or keep a child for several years. Opening homes and hearts to young children can be difficult and does not pay a lot of money. By hosting a Respite night, our church will be
giving the parents a night to go out while we baby-sit their foster children.
The evening begins at 5:30 when parents drop off their children. Kiwanis
will be providing a meal with their cook shack and activities will be
provided for children from a few weeks old to age 14. Parents will pick the kids up at 9:00 p.m. A lot of volunteers will be needed for this rewarding evening.
A planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 11. Assisting
us with this program will be county social workers who volunteer their time to help us make the evening a success. See Respite Night coordinator Flora
