“From the Minister’s Study”

Ah! February, the month of love, amore. A

time for sharing words, flowers and chocolates! A time that the Hallmark people treasure! It’s great to see people in love. I was walking through Grossmont Plaza recently and an older couple

walking ahead of me were holding hands, talking

with one another, smiling back and forth. Nothing

flamboyant or dramatic; just two people who obviously enjoyed each others company and cared deeply for each other. It made my day to see them.

We speak of love all the time of course. We hear the words spoken, read it in print. Nothing new there.

As Christians, love is the basic tenant, the hallmark or foundation of our faith. Our Lord challenged us to love one another and to illustrate such love by “doing unto others as we would have others do unto us.”

It’s easy to say that, even to think about it. But it is another thing to do so on a daily basis.

As February dawns this year, I hope you will consider love in a very serious way.
