Welcome To All Our Visitors
|

The start of a new
school year brings the return
of many of our church programs. The Men’s group, the
Women’s Bible study and even the choir have enjoyed a
summer vacation. They all resume this month. We have
a wonderful opportunity to grow closer while working
together in small groups through these church programs.
This
is one of the blessings of a smaller church. We are better able to care for
each other. We can find out who needs our help and support.
We, of the United Church of Christ, have the unique ability to govern
ourselves as a congregation. One unique way we are doing this is to yoke with
another church congregation. There have been many meetings and revisions
to our yoking agreement with Good Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
We think we are close to finalizing the agreement. It is extremely important to
get this just right as it may be used as a model for both the Southern
Association
of the UCC and the Lutheran Synod. There are many smaller churches
struggling with how to deal with financial issues. This will allow both
congregations
to continue to thrive. We strive to keep an open mind and accept all of
God’s people. We strive to hear, learn, share and teach. We strive to let each
person interpret the Word in a way that will be most meaningful to them. We
are fortunate to have Pastor Tom to lead our study group and help us understand.
We look forward to September 12 when Point Loma Presbyterian
Church choir returns to sing at our service. September 12 is also the day of
our all church picnic at the home of Vickie and Reggie Jones.
This is our church. The more you get involved, the more comfortable
you will feel and the closer you will walk with God. Please continue to share
yourself with all of us.
Blessings,
