A BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR CHURCH:

Chartered September 11, 1894 as a mission of the Congregational Church. We became a part of the United Church of Christ in 1957 when the Congregational Christian and the Evangelical and Reform Churches united.

BUILDINGS: Fuller Hall (The Little Brown Church in the Hills) was erected and dedicated in 1934 and was located where the present church building stands. It was moved to its present location and replaced by a new building which was dedicated in 1953. The Education Building was completed in 1961. The Larson House was built as a parsonage but has become the Administrative Office. Fuller Hall was enlarged and remodeled in 2002. We now carry a mortgage on this building which is slowly being paid off. A portion of the funds you pledge will go toward repaying the mortgage. This building is also available for wedding receptions and other private parties. The rental fees also go toward payment of our mortgage.

OUR CHURCH WORSHIP:

We worship regularly on Sunday morning at 9:00am with Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. That service and all other services are the responsibility of the Pastor and the Board of Deacons. Special Services are held throughout the year on religious holidays and other days of significance to the congregation. Weddings, funeral and memorial services, baptisms, special blessings for persons and property are all scheduled in consultation with the Pastor as they are requested. Wedding and funeral coordinators are available to assist families as needed. The music program of the church including a chancel choir, is an important part of all church worship.

OUR CHURCH EDUCATION:

The Church School assembles with the congregation at worship and leaves after the opening worship and a story sermon. Special programs are scheduled throughout the year including Bible Studies and Confirmation Classes.

OUR CHURCH MISSION:

The church supports the mission of the United Church of Christ, the San Diego County Ecumenical Council, the Alpine Ministerial Association, FISH and other charities designated by the Board of Deacons. It also provides space for community organizations such as 12step programs, scouts and others to meet.

OUR CHURCH AND SOCIAL ACTION

Good citizenship, religious freedom and expression, nonviolent prophetic witness on behalf of justice, and respect for the individual’s right of privacy, providing it doesn’t violate the constitutional rights and safety of others; are keystones for American society. This church supports and encourages its members to be collectively and individually involved in insuring that these social values are maintained.
